Solidarity statement from IPMA

//af

Dear MAs, dear delegates, substitutes, board members, chairs & presidents of IPMA (in bcc)

At IPMA, a federation/family of 71 Member Associations (MAs) we are committed to develop project profession for the benefit of society. Given our global reach, we constantly interact with thousands of professionals worldwide and develop relationships with corporations, government agencies, universities and colleges, as well as training organizations and consulting companies.

Taking into consideration the collaborative nature of our projects and activities, any restrictions not only harm individual professionals working in projects – who may themselves have different political views from their governments – but also prevents them from addressing the societal challenges in their countries.

Therefore, in this situation we emphasize that IPMA has for 57 years stood for diversity in the largest sense of the word, preserving the professionality and ethics in project activities; without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship or political philosophy of the association members and remain to do so in the future.

What we are witnessing today is an evolving crisis and we stand by our belief that restrictions on our professional activities are inappropriate and any exceptions should be narrowly crafted.

IPMA also wishes to express its support for all the civilians caught up in conflicts worldwide, and our thoughts are with the affected people at this difficult time, with huge international political, social and economic consequences. IPMA hopes that peace will be coming back soon and that the international community of states will find a political solution to this conflict.

Meanwhile IPMA will continue to collaborate with all its member associations around the world and will address projects supporting people in overcoming the difficulties they are currently facing. Our thoughts are especially with the people who are in need and distress at this difficult time.
